We are in some very unusual times that none of us here have ever experienced before.  We are at the end of a debt accumilation cycle.  We are at a time when the nation is turning away from God. We need wisdom in how to live in these times.

As we look at today's world we see a lot of things that manifest the lack of fear of God in our hearts.  This reality causes us to be humble before the Lord as we feel the heart of the Lord.  All the pain, hurt, sorrows...  Knowing that today this nation has turned its back on the Lord and if we are Christians that pray, that act according to Gods will and His heart we will feel what He feels.  

All of this takes us to one conclusion: What have we done to influence our kids and grand kids, teaching them about our God and what He has done for us?

Don't be drawn by the doctrine of men that abolish the will of the Father.  Stand firm for honoring the heart of the Father as we live according to His word.  Too many today call themselves Christians but the way they act they deny what they express with their mouths. 

Jesus is seeking out those that joyfully fulfill the will of the Father.

We are tired of Christianity that has many words and no actions. 

It is time now to accept the challenge in reflecting the difference between light and darkness.

Our Lives will never be changed until we know who God is. 
Once we know who He is, look out!

We are so familiar with the teachings of love that it is easy to cut corners.  Without love we can do nothing.  With our love for Jesus all things are possible.

A word Ken Johnson recieved that freed him from the bondage of having to produce for the Lord.  Scripture Reference Galations 6:7-8, Mark 4:14, 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, 1 Corinthians 3:6

Ken Johnson was the pastor of Unalaska Christian Fellowship from around 1978 to 1981.

Mark 11, First, Jesus was on His way to spill his blood for us from the many holes that would be pierced in His flesh.  Holes in His head, holes in His hands, feet, side and back.  He is worthy to be praised continuously.

Secondly, Jesus was on His way to cleanse the temple of Herod.  Today we are the temple.  He kicked over benches and tables on which activities not meant for the temple were being conducted. 

Today Jesus comes into our lives.  If we are conducting activities not meant for His temple, once again He will cleanse the temple with means that may surprise us as much as the money changers were surprised in Herod's temple in Jesus day.

Moses Paulose author of The missionary challenge and founder of Body of Christ Ministries from Rameswaram shares on evangelism and discipleship. 

It's inevitable that you will emotionally, mentally or bodily experience mocking, spitting and flogging.  Death is also in the cards.   Opposition from others often leads to burnout.  How do we survive mistreatment from opposition?  Many of the days of Jesus were dark, troubling and frustrating days.

Jesus said He was one with His Father and the mighty works were the proof. 

He calls us to be one with Him and the Father and exhibit the same proof of this intimate relationship.

Having the second birth, being born into Gods family as spoken of in John 3, as the Spirit of God puts spiritual life into my dead Spirit is not the same as having the Spirit of God come and live in the same tent of flesh, (my physical body) that my now living Spirit does.

Both our spirit coming alive and recieving the Spirit of God to live in us are essential prerequisites to living in an intimate relationship with our Father in Heaven which is the key that unlocks the power to do His will.

Jon Paden starts off talking about love.    What do you associate the fundamental trait of being a christian to be? Church attendence?  Bibiblical familiarity?  Gifts of the Spirit?  The scriptures clearly point out that the fundemental trait of being a christian is love.  Lets explore this...

The Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6:9 and Luke 11:2 is for all those of
God's creation who may for the first time or how many times in their
heart desire to know the heights and depths of their heavenly daddy.

Twenty-eight times in 1 Kings, 2 Kings and 2 Chronicles mothers of the individual kings are being named as the king is being referenced.  Why?

The job of mothers according to the book of Proverbs is to teach their children to keep from immoral women, resist peer pressure and stay sober.

Lets continue to look at the unique calling of mothers.

God is ready to turn on his heavenly winch and pull you out of your impossible situation, be it related to hurt, cynicism, sin, or suspicion.  Maybe just all your stuff? 

The resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead can pull you up today.

In our world sin is so prevelent we become a little numb to it.  The shock and awe of Mark 9:43-48 in very intentional.  Putting your limbs on the chopping block to fight against sin is a brutal image.  None of Jesus' 12 apostles were amputees, but listen up. 

Has Jesus got your attention?  Do you feel totally hopeless?  Good.  You're ready to come to Him with no reliance on yourself, hanging soley on what Jesus can do for you.  Get ready, admit the truth of your helplessness, and let God love you.

Are you wondering where the power of the resurrection went?  Our lives get run over with the business of life in this world.  Take some time and sit quietly and just listen and pray.  The power of the resurrection is here, like the sun shine. 

Chris Price shares what the Lord has been speaking to him over the past two weeks.

We are like the people of Israel who have abandoned their first love and turned to idols. Repent! Return to the God of your youth! Understand the depths of God's redeeming work on the cross.

Is serving the point or is why we serve the point?  Do I serve to control?  Do I serve to increase my importance?  Do I serve for personal security?  Are my motives selfish?  God has shown us a way out of all this into deep love for him and others.

Have you prayed a critical prayer and nothing happened?  Have you backed off believing and trusting God because you feel God can't be trusted?  God will let you down.  I have!  Jesus understands those feelings.  Jesus went through it too with his disciples.

In this year God wants to reveal His heart.  As we spend time in His presence as Moses did.  We need to be baptized with fire.  God is an all consuming fire.  Once in the presence of God - stay!

In these turbulant times,our God is just as true and reliable as ever.  Pursue relationship with Him. 

Hebrews 10:23  Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful."

Elijah prayed and God sent His fire upon the altar.  During this time there was a spiritual battle over control of a region.  The evil spirit of Baal still wants to control even today, but God is looking for Elijahs today to pray down the fire of God. 

Jesus introduces his ultimate mission and it is rejected by his disciples.  Jesus doesn't attack them.  He attacks the devil and call them to join in his mission. 

What wounds and holds from demonic forces keep you from fully accepting God's mission?

Opening up our spirit man to build the kingdom.

Dave Duke from Canada with a healing ministry came up to Unalaska and shared at our church.  After the service during a time of prayer our church congregation witnessed a powerful move of the Holy Spirit.

How important is knowing the Lord?  Is it equal to having eternal life?  Well then after thinking about those first two questions the next is, "How can we know him?"  We take a few minutes looking at the scriptures illuminating the truth that God must choose too.   The next question is, "Has God chosen to reveal himself to you?"  And finally, "If it is very important and we can know him, what should we do?  Philippians 3:10-12, Hosea 6:3

Jesus prays twice for the blind man in Mk 8, Jesus prays the same thing, over and over again in the garden in Mt 26.  In Luke 18 the widow is pointed to as an example of good prayer and she kept saying, "Give me justice and avenge me of my enemies."  Take note of what is good and what is considered prayers of faith as we enter a critical year of 2009.

God is judging the USA because the nation has rejected Him and because the nation more and more is cursing Israel rather than blessing her. 

In the midst of this, don't be discouraged, if we place ourselves in the Lords hand, nothing can snatch us out of His hand and Jesus will build his church.

Merry Christmas everyone.  May the sounds of the season bring Glory to Christ Jesus our Savior.

Mary's humble loving faith guided her through all the difficulties of being a pregnant unmarried woman preparing to give birth to our savior.  We, when we accepted Jesus, became pregnant by the Holy Spirit and Jesus is being formed in us.  It is not easy being pregnant.  Our bodies go through many, many changes. 

There are voids, unformed area's of our life that Christ has yet to be formed in.  Don't give up God wants to give you gold tried in the fire (faith), white robes (acts of kindness)  and salve for your eyes (humility) to reach the goal of the loving image of Christ in our lives.

 

The feeding of the five thousand by Jesus in Mark 8 gives us two powerful challenges, directions, and perspectives.


The first is what most Christians work on applying.  Taking time before the day begins to give Jesus every part of our day.  Placing everything in his hands and asking him to bless it.  Jesus then breaks it and gives it back to us to be nourished by.


The second perspective is that in our current day and age we are now the body of Christ.  We then rise from our knees as Jesus did and walk into the tumultuous activities of daily life.  God opens doors into people’s lives through their needs as we bump into them in various ways.


Jesus asked what people needed.  We follow his example as his body and also ask.  Jesus prayed for them as an example for to us to follow.  We pray and then step forward in faith in whatever way necessary.

 

This is the second mile this is being the salt and light that brings glory to God.  

How close to the breaking point emotionally and psycologically did Jesus go in order to fully experience our weaknesses?

 

We often gloss over His frustration.  Let's look at all the pressures building on him in through the first six chapters of Mark and see how he deals with it.
